July Updates

Product updates and refinements to save you time, boost your conversion and block fraud.

Can you believe it is already August?

This summer has been a busy one here at Footprint HQ. We are psyched with the reception of our recent feature updates! This month was about fine-tuning the product to ensure our customers are getting the maximum value. We wanted to highlight a couple of these updates below. Please let us know if you have any product feedback, suggestions, or complaints.

Before we discuss new product updates, we want to highlight our oldest product: vaulting. Given the recent news in the financial industry, we thought it was worth reminding people why we view Footprint as a security company first.

Footprint takes advantage of a radical new paradigm known as Confidential Computing, enabling us to process sensitive data in highly isolated, secure environments that far outpace the typical approaches used by businesses today. If you are interested in learning more, I encourage you to check out this blog (or head over to AWS’s nitro enclaves page, where we are proud to be a featured case study!)

Clear Manual Review

With our tenants onboarding thousands of people daily, manual review came into focus. During a customer co-working session, we realized that when companies request additional information from users, they then need to manually approve it, even when Footprint certifies the information. The 20 seconds it took to approve someone manually were adding up. To help, we launched the ability to configure automatic approval once the information request had been completed.

ITIN or SSN

Many of our customers service both US citizens and residents. Initially, this would require setting up playbooks to onboard users with either an ITIN or an SSN, which sometimes creates confusion for the end users.

Now, while setting up your playbooks, you can ask for either an ITIN or an SSN, and the end user can select which they will submit.

Duplicate Detection

Fraudsters are clever but also lazy.

Often, they will use the same pieces of information in different combinations to onboard onto a platform multiple times.

They often re-use something, whether the same phone number or picture on an ID.

That is why we are thrilled to launch our duplicate detection tool. We now flag and present users who have overlapping information.

Auth Email or SMS OTP

Footprint’s 5-line-of-code integration lets businesses quickly authenticate a user using their Footprint Passkey, thereby providing cryptographic “proof” that the user whose identity was originally verified is the same user coming back into the product.

While we are big believers in Passkeys, we are proud to launch email and phone OTP. You can configure your auth playbook to accept one or both, and your end users can select how they would like to authenticate themselves.
